Do you have any videos about old gear like the Casio CZ5000 for
example..and especially how to save data via the MT Terminal. I saw
somewhere a schematics on how to build a midi/MT cable..and connect it with
    a sound recording device (Zoom..something) but i lost it..and i’m unsure
about if it really works..and it didn’t tell if it should be in mono..or
stereo..or what sample rate….or anything..just a schematics on how to
build and connect the cable. You seem like a VERY technical guy..and if
    someone can help..i think it’s you :-)

Congratulations, your videos are well informed and useful, and how much
help you will be able to clarify me.
My Friend I am Sidinaldo aka Symon, I have an immense difficulty that is
    next.
I use Reason 5 and I have an Akai MPC 500 the same a Wed vido you present
    in some classes.
The question is could u help me add MPC to Reason 5 500?
As of now I am very grateful for his help with their video lessons to the
    world of music

Stupid question here, but can this be used STRICTLY as a keyboard sequencer
without any drums playing? And will it trigger an external MIDI chain that
    has another drum machine? Thanks

Could you use a microKorg in place of the keyboard and synth? Meaning just
    plug in the microKorg

Really helpful video. Thanks alot. I just got an MPC 1000 yesterday! I’m
assuming all the information you’ve given us can be passed over but I was
wondering if I could sample the drums my Roland 626 Drum Machine. Would I
need to plug the midi out from the 626 into the MPC to do that?

Do you know how to record live right into a DAWs, like Logic? I’ve been
trying to figure that out for a while. I’ve have a Maschine now but love to
still do stuff with my 500 because it was my first device. This video is
really helpful, I can now do somethings with my MPC and MPK together,
    Thanks!!!

Cool… does the MPC 500 record envelope changes, etc. on the external
device if they transmit MIDI as well?

Yes, you can (and should) save your settings, so that you won’t have to
enter them every time you power up the MPC. Check out my video “Akai MPC
500 Tutorial: Playing Samples with a MIDI Keyboard”, in which I explain how
to save and load these things. Also, check the MPC’s manual on how to
automatically load settings on startup. I use the MPC 500 almost strictly
as a MIDI sequencer and it works really well for me. Let me know if you
    have any more questions 🙂

Yes, the MPC 500 can record pitch and mod wheel changes and pretty much any
other regular MIDI messages as well.

Thanks for doing this vid. I’m curious if after doing all of that setup if
it will keep/remember those settings next time you turn the unit on, or do
you have to go through all of those menus again. I’m debating getting this
unit strictly for the sequencer, not drums/samples.

So once you’ve created those loops, can you control them individually? As
in could you loop them in a live setting and have them automatically assign
to a pad so as to be able to turn each loop on and off individually?

  14. blank
    The Tuesday Night Machines Feb, 16 - 2014 +reply

Yes, that’s possible. I would sample some pitches of the synth sound (e.g.
4per Octave) and then map them to the MPC pads and pitch them to match the
correct notes. You could of course sample each semitone of an octave for
the best sound quality, but that requires a lot of work and memory. When
you mapped & pitched the synth notes to the MPC pads, you just need to set
each pad’s MIDI note accordingly and then you can play the sounds with a
keyboard. Let me know if you have any more questions 🙂

Yes, that’s what I’m doing in the tutorial video 🙂

You can create several different MIDI tracks in one sequence, loop them and
mute/unmute them, just like regular Drum tracks. And you can create various
sequences, which you can switch between live. You can’t however assign
MIDI/Drum loops to Pads (at least not on the MPC500), unless you resample
their audio first and assign the WAV file to a pad.

You can assign your bass samples to the MPC pads and sequence them just
like the drum sounds. 🙂 If you assign the correct MIDI notes to the pads,
you could even play them with the microkorg keyboard.

Both works. You can use just the MK and its keyboard or an external
    keyboard.

Thank you Fix04, amazing you got back straight away, I am trying to trigger
sounds that are my own samples, so they are on various pads. all I want to
is trigger from a midi keyboard, not the pads. Could you give a quick
tutorial, My Midi keyboard is Oxgen 8, all want to do is connect via midi
to the MPC, If you could tell me a step by step run through, It would help
    a great deal.

hardware, yamaha QY100 music sequencer. this device has a built in mini
keyboard, but i`d like to use a full size when i`m programing… what do i
need to buy?? also i dont like the drum sounds in the QY100 and wondered if
i could midi my boss BR900 drum machine into the sequencer to replace the
