Watch this video to find out how to add an internal hard drive device into your AKAI MPC 1000. I used a Hitachi Travelstar 100GB IDE Hard Drive. Model #HTS541010G9AT00– Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 100GB (Discontinued)

I can’t find a vid on this for the mpc 2kXL, does anybody know or think
that it should work and how?
Does this work with all mpc 1000s? What if we have JJOS will this still
work?
SATA? IDE? SCSI? No one is listing what type of hard drive to buy. I’ve got
over a dozen laying around and I’m wondering which fits the kit before I
buy it.
@drastic209562 It’s probably the formatted size. All storage media needs
space on the HDD for formatting, it’s used for directories and things. For
instance a 250gb computer hard drive formatted only has about 232gb.
thank u man helped alot
you’re right my friend. Good catch!
Do I still need the HDM-10 for the newer black model and will the
installation be the same?
Whats the biggest hard drive that can be used?
cool video man! Question, can you use any 2.5″ IDE Hard Disk?
@11KNU samples load faster. If the samples are apart of a song, then I
would say yes they load faster as well.
Why when I put in a 160GB HD it’s only showing 130GB.
does anyone know if you can put 500gb HD in the mpc 1000?
I thought I smelled a pussy.
@digitalphunc thanks
whats the most gb hard drive you could add to mcp1000. good vid
Would you do this instead of installing the EXM128? I just got my MPC
1000BK and still only have the standard 16mb with JJOS 3.13…desperately
need to do an upgrade so I can chop larger samples that I have.
@jadak1988 storing samples on the actual system instead of removable media.
What is the maximum compatible hard drive size that will work with this
kit? I mean, can i throw a 1TB in there?
EXCELLENT
@ZingZillion how do i know which firmware i got? i copped my 1000 used and
theres jj os something onit .. not sure if its jj os 1 or 2 how do i know?
Can you play samples directly from the harddrive like in MPC 5000? maybe
with jjos, or even updated akai OS? If anyone knows, any help would be
appreciated. I have some choral samples and orchestral samples that are
very big that I would like to use live.
when you say straight from the hard drive I’m confused by what you mean.
The purpose of the hard drive is to allow for storage of samples. You can
keep the samples on board the hard drives space and load to play. There is
a load process, but the point of the hard drive is for on board storage.
You can load and play these samples using the standard akai is. I hope this
helps.
this is NOT a SATA drive, this is IDE (or ATA 100).
@rivnat123 I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able too as long as it met the
proper specs for the drive connection.
Do you mean firmware or OS which should be updated??? I cant find any
firmware installs of the mpc1000. thx
